Like a game of Simon, Haunted Ice Cream tasks the players with following a set of instructions—a stack of ice cream scoops in this case. You follow Paisley, the ghost girl who wants to come back to life through the “Reviving Life Set,” as she borrows the body of human Ririka to sell the otherworldly dessert. This simple premise is brought to life by impressive anime-style artwork and elevator music.
The controls for the game are quite simple: WASD for the left-hand flavors and arrow keys for the right-hand ones. It’s also a visual treat, with a combination of usual flavors like mint and unusual ones like eyeballs. Also, it has a number of game features that make it interesting such as powerups and an overarching objective of gaining a lot of money for Paisley’s goals.
The game has a short playthrough length. A round lasts for about a minute, shorter if you can memorize and recreate the order faster. Also, it has a general objective that keeps you playing for longer. Unfortunately, it leads to a single ending scenario. Lastly, expect the game to get more difficult the longer you play it. Orders get more complex while time to complete them remains the same.

If you’re looking for a game you can pick up and drop off as you please, Haunted Ice Cream can do the job. It uses anime-style artwork paired with good music, mostly for the background, and a simple gameplay mechanic that even kids can follow.
